Sometimes life sends you mixed messages. It’s up to us to read them and figure out what to do next. This is what Nancy from Briogeo did after experiencing trauma and quitting her job.

Back in 2010, Nancy Twine decided to leave her job at Goldman Sachs after a personal tragedy and pursue a career with more fulfillment and passion.

Inspired by the homemade hair treatments she and her mom would make, Nancy created a line of hair care products that catered to a diverse array of hair textures without using harmful chemicals.

There are very limited natural haircare products that fulfil the needs of those with coarse, curly hair. As a woman with this hair type, Nancy wanted to be one to make a change.

As a female African-American founder, pitching beauty products to white, male investors posted a challenge.

However, she was able to secure $100k in investment funds in 2013 which enabled her to launch the brand which now proudly, and internationally, sits in Sephora, Space NK, Cult Beauty, and more.
